Introduction

Left Handed Giant is a Bristol based brewing company that operate a commercial brewery with taproom and a showcase brewpub, both located within the center of Bristol, UK. Their St Philips brewery brews one off experimental, modern beer while the Brewpub specializes in session pales, traditional ales and crispy, unfiltered lagers.

And their Brew pub was recently voted; the 4th Best New Brewery in the world at the Rate beer Best Awards!

From a „Small bar“ till a great brewery adventure

Bruce told that In 2014, a man named Rich Poole walked into Small Bar, Bristol, and handed some beer over to Bruce and Jack Granger. This began a brewing journey that started on a 200L kit through the back of that same bar, before developing into a cuckoo brewery operation known as Left Handed Giant.

Nowadays they have an amazing brewpub overlooking the floating harbor in the center of Bristol, which is opened in 2019. They now operate over 2 brewery sites, selling over 70% of the 4000HL per year production through their own venues at the Finzels Reach Brewpub and St Philips Tap Room and still, from where it all began at Small Bar.

The road to tank beer for the LHG brewery

We began looking for the bag-in-tank solutions during the creation of our Finzels Reach Brewpub. One of our core values was reducing the distance between tank and tap, and ensuring our customers drink our beer in as fresh condition as possible, and Tank beer is the most effective way of achieving this

We needed horizontal tanks with bag in tank technology. We could not source any UK producers that fitted our spec, with all UK suppliers importing. The prices we were offered for import tanks was high, and the future servicing would have been through an intermediary. As such I began to look direct to producers around the world. The most impressive spec, prices and sales team were by far and away Duotank. There are good manuals provided but ultimately any questions or concerns we had the Duotank team were always on hand to help.

The look, price and specification all fitted really well with our budget and ideas for how the tanks would work in our space. The flexibility of racking/ layout was a bonus too!

Exciting moment

I was certainly nervous on the first order as the product is high value and we were not able to view the tanks before delivery. My concerns were absolutely unfounded with the tanks arriving ahead of time and the quality being excellent.
